Janette was born in Western Australia and as a child was always involved in creative activity to some degree. Both parents were very creative, especially her father who encouraged painting. Janette always had a paint set and many, many sketch books to pursue drawing, design etc.. As a young adult took up pottery, silversmithing under the tuition of a Master Danish Craftsman - Vahn Hemingsen and gold jewellery making, bead earrings and necklaces, and since 2007 started painting.
Under the guidance of Gwen Krumins Janette became interested in pastels and worked with this medium for several happy years. Not being interested in painting with oils, Janette joined Malvern Artists Society and took creative drawing sessions with Maxine Wade. Janette stayed with Maxine for several years during which time honed her drawing skills, and also was introduced to using inks and mixed media.
However, Janette was looking for a painting medium that was enjoyable and allowed her to further develop and explore other media and whilst attending a mixed media session Janette discovered acrylics and then it started !
Under the skillful tuition of Craig Penny noted acrylic artist, Janette has been painting with acrylics since 2011 and in 2012 joined the Heidelberg Artists Society and currently is tutored by acrylics artist Susan O'Brien. Susan has been influential in developing Janette's interest in contemporary and abstract painting which she is thoroughly enjoying.
To date Janette has successfully sold paintings at Brighton Rotary Art Exhibition, Chelsea Rotary Art Exhibition, Malvern Artists Exhibition, Mornington Peninsula Rotary Exhibition and to private clients.
